Seiko 5 Sports and Honda Mark Motocompo’s 45th Year With HDB010
Seiko and Honda have put the 1981 Motocompo folding scooter on a 5 Sports Mid-Field case. According to Monochrome Watches, reference HDB010 is limited to 8,000 pieces, scheduled for worldwide release in September 2026, with a price indicated around EUR 400 pending final confirmation.
The Motocompo was a 49 cc, 2.5 hp two-stroke scooter with a 42 kg dry weight, folding bars and footrests, and leak-proof fuel, oil and battery systems so it could sit in the trunk of Honda’s City car. The watch does not copy the vehicle’s silhouette; it maps colour, graphics and hardware labels onto an existing 36.4 mm field platform.
What Honda specified on the case
The steel case measures 36.4 mm across, 12.5 mm thick and 44.4 mm lug to lug, with 18 mm lugs. A matte black hard coating covers the case. The crown is black and carries the word “TURN,” a cue taken from the Motocompo fuel cock. Water resistance is 100 m. The front crystal is curved Hardlex; the back is mineral glass with Honda and anniversary logos rather than an exhibition window.

Dial and strap as product graphics
The dial is matte yellow with embossed black Arabic numerals and Lumibrite indices. A horizontal black bar carries the Honda mark, echoing the scooter’s side protection bars. The “Automatic” text uses a typeface matched to the Motocompo logo. Hands are blackened with lume. Day and date discs at 3 o’clock are black to keep the yellow field uninterrupted.
The black nylon strap is labelled at the loops with “Carrying Point” and at the tip with “Insertion Point,” language Honda used for the straps that tied the folded scooter into a car. Hardware is blackened. Packaging is a corrugated carton styled after the Motocompo shipping box.

Where it sits in 5 Sports
HDB010 is a collaboration on the compact field case, not on the 42 mm SKX-style diver. Calibre 4R36 is the same automatic day-date used across much of 5 Sports, including the 2019 SRPD sports platform documented in the SRPD donor overview. The limited run is sequential with other 5 Sports collabs (Pepsi, Pink Panther, Mooneyes) but is timed to a 45-year vehicle anniversary rather than a drinks or entertainment licence.

Can the case coating be refinished easily?
The black hard coating is factory-applied. Aftermarket refinish options for coated 5 Sports cases are limited compared with raw steel SRPD donors.
Does it share parts with the yellow Mooneyes 5 Sports?
Both use yellow dials and 4R36, but HDB010 is the 36.4 mm Mid-Field case with Honda-specific crown, caseback and strap markings, not the larger sports case used on SRPL39.
