Panerai Luminor PAM01735 & Forged Titanium PAM01629: Heritage Reimagined
Panerai Honors 1960s Marina Militare Heritage
Panerai turns to its historic 1960s Ref. 6152/1 as inspiration for two new Luminor models that celebrate the brand's legacy as a supplier of precision instruments to the Italian Navy. The Luminor PAM01735 and Luminor Forged Titanium PAM01629, unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2026, reimagine the iconic 47mm military dive watch with contemporary materials and movements while staying true to the spirit of the originals.
PAM01735: Tropical Dial Aesthetics in Steel
The PAM01735 comes in a polished 100m water-resistant stainless steel case with a brushed crown-protecting bridge. Its matte ivory sandwich dial features a grainy surface designed to reduce reflection, with a gradient that transitions from a lighter tone at the centre to a browner tone on the periphery — emulating the way vintage black Panerai dials would fade over time when exposed to sunlight and luminous compounds.
Beige vintage-coloured Super-LumiNova is applied to the lower plate of the sandwich dial and on the retro double pencil hands. Like the original 1960s military references, the dial is clean and functional, displaying only hours, minutes, and a small seconds counter at 9 o'clock.
PAM01629: Forged Titanium Innovation
In a more contemporary vein, the PAM01629 debuts Panerai's first-ever forged titanium case. Created by bonding two grades of titanium with heat and pressure under a forging hammer, forged titanium produces a striking surface with wave-like patterns in contrasting grey tones. Since the texture varies from case to case, no two watches are alike — the wavy patterns underscore Panerai's ties to the maritime world.
The forged titanium is 40% lighter than steel and is used to craft the mid-case, bezel, and crown-protective bridge. The PAM01629 features an anthracite sun-brushed sandwich dial with beige Super-LumiNova. This model is limited to 100 pieces.
Calibre P.3000: Manual-Winding Heritage
Both watches share the calibre P.3000, an in-house manual-winding movement with twin barrels delivering a robust 3-day power reserve. The 16½ lignes diameter echoes the tradition of large movements powering historic Panerai models. A useful quick-change time function allows the hour hand to advance and reverse in one-hour steps using the crown in the first position.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes forged titanium different from regular titanium?
Forged titanium is created by bonding two grades of titanium with heat and pressure, producing a unique wave-like pattern. It is 40% lighter than steel, highly corrosion-resistant, and no two cases look exactly alike due to the forging process.
Why did Panerai reduce the case size from 47mm to 44mm?
While the original 1960s military references were 47mm, the new models adopt a slightly more wearable profile for contemporary tastes while preserving the essential proportions and design vocabulary of the originals.
