Panerai Luminor Forged Titanium PAM01629: First-Ever Forged Titanium Case Debuts
Panerai Introduces Forged Titanium to the Luminor Collection

Panerai has broken new ground with the Luminor Forged Titanium PAM01629, the brand's first-ever timepiece to feature a forged titanium case. This limited edition of 100 pieces combines Panerai's heritage as a supplier of precision instruments to the Italian Navy with cutting-edge material innovation.
What is Forged Titanium?
Forged titanium is created by bonding two grades of titanium with heat and pressure under a forging hammer. The process produces a striking surface with wave-like patterns in contrasting grey tones. Since the texture varies from case to case, no two watches are alike—the wavy patterns underscore Panerai's ties to the maritime world. With its high corrosion resistance and strength, forged titanium is 40% lighter than steel and is used to craft the mid-case, bezel, and crown-protecting bridge.

The Steel Companion: PAM01735
Alongside the forged titanium model, Panerai also introduced the Luminor PAM01735 in polished stainless steel at 47mm. This model features a matte ivory "tropical" sandwich dial with gradient effect, designed to emulate the way black vintage Panerai dials would fade over time. Both watches use the hand-wound Calibre P.3000 with twin barrels and a robust 3-day power reserve, plus the useful quick-change hour function.

Military Heritage and Crown Protection
Both models reference Panerai's historic 1960s Ref. 6152/1, a model commissioned by the Marina Militare for its commando frogmen. The crown-protecting bridge—a patented hinged lever that flips up to unlock or down to lock—presses the crown firmly against the gasket for a watertight seal. By 1950, Panerai had transitioned from wire lugs to solid lugs machined from the same steel block as the case middle, enhancing structural integrity and water resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does forged titanium differ from Grade 5 titanium?
Forged titanium is created by bonding two grades of titanium under heat and pressure, resulting in a unique wave-like pattern. Standard Grade 5 titanium has a uniform appearance, while forged titanium offers distinctive visual texture.
What is the PAM01735's retail price?
The stainless steel Luminor PAM01735 is priced at EUR 12,100 and will be available from June 2026.
Why does Panerai use the P.3000 movement in these models?
The Calibre P.3000 features a 16½ lignes diameter that echoes the tradition of large movements powering historic Panerai models with extended power reserves. Its quick-change hour function adds practical value for travelers.
