King Seiko Puts VANAC in Titanium With a New 8L45 Calibre
King Seiko, revived as a Seiko sub-brand in 2022, added a titanium sports trio in March 2026. According to aBlogtoWatch, the VANAC Titanium watches keep the angular 1970s VANAC silhouette introduced in steel in 2025, switch the metal to titanium, and introduce Caliber 8L45. Retail is $3,850. Availability through authorised dealers was listed as July 2026.
Case, bracelet and the highway dial
All three references share a 41 mm-wide, 14.3 mm-thick integrated titanium case, a bezel-less box sapphire, a display back and 100 m water resistance. The crown is a large gear-tooth type at 3 o’clock. The bracelet is a three-link titanium design with grooved, polished centre links. The dial is the stated design story: a sunburst base with horizontal engraving, plus flared bands at 3 and 9 o’clock meant to recall Tokyo’s elevated highways. A raised, faceted hour ring sits on top.

Where 8L45 sits in Seiko’s stack
- Beat rate: 4 Hz (28,800 vph), above the 3 Hz 6R-series used in many Prospex and Presage watches.
- Reserve: 72 hours, matching recent 6R51/6R55 figures rather than older 40–45 hour 6R15-class movements.
- Stated accuracy: −5/+10 seconds per day, tighter than typical 6R ratings.
- Finish: matched striping on rotor, three-quarter plate and balance cock, shown through the display back.
King Seiko’s problem since 2022 has been a gap between volume Seiko and Grand Seiko. VANAC Titanium is the first King Seiko sports line to pair a new in-house 8L calibre with an integrated titanium case rather than a 1960s dress revival. That is a different brief from the KS1969 anniversary steel watch issued in January. Aftermarket builders who usually start from Seiko 5 Sports SRPD cases will not find 8L45 or this integrated lug geometry in the SRPD donor platform. Strap experiments on integrated sports watches still need a measured lug width; the lug and strap width guide covers why a flush strap is not a standard 20 mm spring-bar swap.
FAQ
Is VANAC Titanium a Grand Seiko? No. It is King Seiko, priced at $3,850. Grand Seiko remains a separate brand with its own calibres and finishing grades.
What is new besides the metal? Caliber 8L45, the highway-engraved dial, and a titanium integrated bracelet. The case outline follows the 2025 steel VANAC, without the 1970s faceted crystal.
When did it go on sale? Announced in March 2026, with dealer availability listed for July 2026 at $3,850.
